700+ FPS KJW M700 Project

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

Thanks to boredom, you will get a nice video of my KJW M700 shooting.. It IS running on a green gas rig that I made. There have been hours of work done on the internals of the magazine and gun. I will not specify or talk about these modifications in detail due to safety reasons. I was shooting with .48 , or .43, I dont remember, aluminum bbs The gun is like a real m700 PSS system. I decided to not use the mag as an bdl and just hand load the bb’s through the magazine into the chamber. Yes it shot through one side of the coffee can, Normally it goes through both sides at point blank. Please do not criticize/flame me for the velocity that this gun is running at, I do not play at fields with velocities this high because I do care about the well-being of my fellow airsofters.

Airsoft Pellets Weight Affects Airsoft Guns Performance

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

The weight of your airsoft pellets affects the performance of your airsoft gun a lot. Every airsoft player wants their pellets to go long distance and have great accuracy. Although the gun itself is actually the main factor which affects your accuracy, the pellets also play an important role in determining the accuracy.

The most common pellets weight types are 0.12g and 0.20g. 0.12g pellets are often used in low end airsoft guns, for instance, the basic spring and electric handguns. However, most of them do work with the 0.20g ones. 0.12g pellets do not strain the guns’ internal systems as much as the 0.20g ones.

0.20g and 0.25g are best used with higher end airsoft guns. Although 0.12g pellets usually travel at higher velocities than heavier pellets, they also decelerate faster and are more likely to be affected by external environmental factors. On the other hand, weightier BBs have higher stability and accuracy than lighter pellets, but have lower velocity which makes them hard to achieve a significant distance. Airsoft players usually use 0.20g and 0.25g pellets over 0.12g because the latter is believed to be greatly inferior to the formers.

However, you should not use pellets beyond the weight 0.25g in standard airsoft guns although they are suitable for sniper rifles. Usually, a quality sniper rifle pellet weighs about 0.30g. The specifications of an airsoft gun must increase as a pellet gets heavier. The airsoft gun must be of a high quality and may need upgrades to support a 0.30g pellet.

The heaviest pellet of all is 0.88g which has a really low velocity and is made of steel. These pellets are not suitable for airsoft games but if you saw one anywhere, try to avoid yourself from being hit by these pellets at all costs.

Look Out, Paintball — Here Comes Airsoft

When playing paintball just isn’t enough

Airsoft Guns started in Japan, and now is making its way onto paintball fields in the U.S.

Don’t let the name “Airsoft Gun” fool you. There is no “soft” when you’re hit by an Airsoft BB. Morgan Evans, 22, of Marshall says: “If you don’t mind getting shot, it’s the sport for you. However, if you mind BB’s flying at you, then maybe you want to stick with the X-box or the PlayStation 2.”

Most Airsoft guns are spring, gas, and electric powered and can shoot their rounds at 150 – 307 feet per second. Airsoft Guns can sell for as little as $5.00 and as much as $1,200.

Ammunition is cheaper than paintball. The cost of 2,000 rounds of paintballs is about $70; 2,200 Airsoft BB’s cost about $14.

Before anyone can play in a Wisconsin Airsoft Association game, players under the age of 18 must complete basic Airsoft training. During the one-day training course, players learn about safety and equipment and are given a marksmanship evaluation.

Unlike paintballs, which make a mark, Airsoft employs an honor system: When a player is hit, he calls him- or herself out. Not doing this can get you banned from future play.

Airsoft guns shoot 0.2 g BBs at velocities from 100 ft/s (30 m/s) for a low-end spring pistol, to 550 ft/s (170 m/s) and beyond for heavily-upgraded customized sniper rifles. Most non-upgraded AEG’s using the Tokyo Marui system are in the middle, producing velocities from 270 to 300 ft/s (80 to 90 m/s), but upgrades to the internal components can increase the pellet velocity significantly.

Hop-up & Bernoulli’s principle Bernoulli’s principle is a physical law that says that if a pellet is given a backspin an overpressure is formed under the bullet and an under pressure is formed on the top of the bullet. These pressures affect the bullet as on an airplanes wings a lift is formed. The bullet is sucked upwards. If the force caused by the backspin is equal to the effect of gravitation the bullet will fall slower and have a flatter trajectory, which gives the pellet longer range. In Airsoft guns this is often implemented as a rubber piece at the rear of the barrel that is thicker at the top of the barrel than the bottom.

The Exciting Airsoft Sniper Rifle Part I

Friday, December 18th, 2009

In the ever-growing worldwide popularity of the sport of Airsoft, no player has captured the imagination of war gamers more than the character known as the Airsoft “SNIPER”.

Often referred to as the Lone Wolf or Rogue of Airsofting, the Sniper is the gamer who wants to set himself up in the perfect ambush position and than take out his opponents with long range speed and accuracy.

The weapon of choice for this exciting player is the popular Airsoft Sniper Rifle. Of all the available Airsoft guns, the Airsoft Sniper Rifle is best suited for this type of player. Big and somewhat cumbersome, the Airsoft Sniper Rifle is designed for long range shooting with high velocity.

These Airsoft guns are capable of creating some of the highest pellet velocities in the entire industry. These rifles are also noted for delivering heightened accuracy. The Sniper Rifle has an average length of around 42 inches (1070mm), with a firing velocity that approaches roughly 390ft/sec. These guns are usually powered by a bolt-action spring instead of an electric motor or gas.

This makes the rifle advantageous in combat due to the quietness of its firing mechanism as compared to the much louder discharge of other power sources. The quiet bolt-action spring allows the shooter the ability to surprise other players more easily.

Due to their large length, the Sniper Rifle functions more accurately when used in a stationary position, usually mounted on a bipod. Although big in size, they are primarily designed to be used by a gamer who is set up in one spot. Because of its hefty size, these Airsoft guns are difficult to wield in close quarter situations. To alleviate this problem some rifles come with folding or removable stocks.

Along with a bipod, other important accessories for the Lone Wolf Airsoft Sniper and his rifle would include a laser scope. The advanced laser scope gives the shooter his best chance for optimal long-range accuracy.

Being on the move for better ambush locations often necessitates the need for a quality shoulder harness to help in transporting the rifle. A large hi-cap magazine that holds a minimum of thirty bbs is also a necessary ingredient in prolonging the battle life of the gallant Airsoft Sniper.

One of the more popular Airsoft Sniper Rifle model lines is the Super 9 series. Designed after the Belgian police rifle with the customary windows in the stock, the Super 9 series has an extremely realistic look. The Super 9 series Airsoft guns cost around 100 U.S. dollars without any upgrades.

It is important to keep in mind from a cost perspective that in order for the Super 9 to be effective in a serious Airsoft war game such as the Mil-Sim, it will require a number of the significant upgrades already mentioned. This will also increase the financial investment.

There are many exciting types of Airsoft guns available to all Airsoft enthusiasts and veteran war game players. But to those gamers who prefer the sniper’s thrill of stealth and surprise, no gun can match the exciting Airsoft Sniper Rifle.
